bulls in china shops

In our rushing, bulls in china shops, we break our own lives...

I am currently immersed in "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp.
Immersed:  to plunge or dip into a fluid.
"Fluid" nearly describes this poetic revelation of Eucharisteo.
Eucharisteo:  to give thanks.

And fluid it is.

Her words are like water;  the meaning of the words even deeper.
If you want a good book to read and you want life to slow down a little, pick up this book.  You won't regret it.

Summer Bliss

In the middle of Winter, my mind escapes to carefree Summer days...

Days of running barefoot in the grass...

Days of windows rolled down, belting out your favorite song...

Days with afternoons that roll by slowly...

Summer brings such peace to the soul;  almost as if it whispers, "everything is going to be okay..."

So Summer, this one's for you.

For the water fights you've encouraged over the years;

The days at the beach,
The barbecues,
The lazy afternoons,
The lemonade,
The camp outs,
The invitation to go barefoot,
The picnics,
The morning runs...

Thank you~

What are your dreams worth?

To some extent, we all dream.

Dreams are the wings on which our spirits take flight.
They give us a pathway through even the darkest of nights.

But so often, distraction is our greatest enemy - especially living here in the first world.  Facebook, video games, television, work and to-do lists suck us dry of the marrow that our souls feast on. They suck the romance out of life and leave us dull minded and wondering how we ended up this way. Now, don't get me wrong. I am not saying that any of these things are evil. I am simply saying that, if we let them, they will run our lives for us and steal away that which brings us the most life.

What are your dreams and what will they cost you? And are you willing to pay the cost?

A mentor of mine once said that our dreams will cost us everything we have and will even try to kill us.  Therefore, it is up to us to decide if it is worth it.

Is it a dollar amount?
Time spent in front of the Tellie?
A strict diet?
A second job?

What is your dream?
And will you regret waking up in your 60s,
knowing you didn't go after it?

I am in my 20s and already facing that horrible truth that is human nature to believe that we have a lifetime to get things done.  My Grandma just died well before her time and it was like a smack in the face. We could be 'done' any moment. Our lifetime isn't promised to 80 years. It may only be 30. So, I say let's get on with it. Define your dream, count the cost, risk it all and go after it.
